Do RevPoints expire? Yes—three years after issue

Each point has its own three-year clock. Activity does not reset every point, and the order Revolut uses at redemption is more specific than a simple oldest-points-first rule.

UK rules verified 19 July 2026

Direct answer: a RevPoint issued on 19 July 2026 is valid for three years from that issue date. Check the exact dates in your app and redeem before the relevant balance expires.
Validity3 years per point
Normal redemption orderBought points first
Expiry exceptionEarned points within 3 months

How the three-year clock works

Day issued

The point receives its own issue date, whether it came from eligible spend or another supported earning activity.

During the balance

Earning or redeeming other RevPoints does not turn the whole balance into a fresh three-year balance. Check the dates shown in the app.

Three years later

The point expires if it has not been redeemed. Moving points to an airline or hotel programme before then replaces the RevPoints rule with that destination programme's rules.

Which points Revolut redeems first

The current UK redemption help gives a two-part rule. It should not be shortened to a simple chronological rule.

RevPoints redemption order by expiry situation
SituationPoints used firstPlanning consequence
No earned points expire in the next three monthsBought points are generally redeemed firstA later-expiring bought balance may be used before an earlier earned balance.
Earned points expire within the next three monthsPoints are redeemed in expiry orderThe near-expiry earned balance can move ahead of bought points.

Why the app matters: points can have different issue dates. The balance total alone does not show which part expires next.

Before any points expire

  • Open RevPoints and tap the balance to review point activity and expiry information.
  • Choose a redemption you can use; do not transfer speculatively just to avoid expiry.
  • For airline or hotel transfers, confirm availability, destination account name, rate and finality first.
  • If closing RevPoints, redeem the balance before confirming closure.

RevPoints expiry questions

When exactly does each RevPoint expire?

Each point is valid for three years from the date it is issued. Different parts of one balance can therefore expire on different dates.

Does earning more RevPoints reset the expiry date?

No. New points receive their own issue dates; they do not restart the three-year clock on points already in the balance.

Where can I check my RevPoints expiry dates?

Open RevPoints from the bottom menu in the Revolut app and tap your points balance. Use the account's displayed point activity and expiry information as the final check.

Are the oldest RevPoints always used first?

No. Revolut generally redeems bought points first. If earned points will expire in the next three months, points are redeemed in expiry order instead.

What happens when earned points are within three months of expiry?

They enter the expiry-order exception. A nearer-expiring earned balance can be redeemed before bought points that would normally be used first.

Do transferred airline or hotel points keep the RevPoints expiry date?

No. After a completed transfer, the destination loyalty programme's own validity rules apply. The transfer is final, so check those rules before moving points.

Does closing RevPoints make the balance expire early?

Closure is separate from normal expiry: unused points are voided when the RevPoints account closes. The only refund exception is for unused bought points when RevPoints is closed within 14 days of first opening the RevPoints account.

Can Revolut extend my RevPoints expiry date?

The public UK rules state the three-year validity period and do not promise an activity-based extension. Plan to redeem before the date shown in your app.
