RevPoints vs Avios: the difference, and why you can have both

RevPoints and Avios are not rivals — you turn RevPoints into Avios. RevPoints are Revolut's own reward currency; Avios are the airline currency used by the British Airways Club, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Qatar Airways. Revolut lets you convert RevPoints to Avios at up to 1:1, so the real question is not which to collect, but when to convert.

Convert your RevPoints to Avios

RevPoints convert up to 1:1 to Avios. Flight value is illustrative at about 1 to 2p per Avios and varies by route and cabin. Verify current rates. Not financial advice.

When should you convert?

Hold your RevPoints until you have a specific flight in mind. Once converted, Avios can only be used within the airline programmes.

Convert during a transfer bonus. Revolut and airlines occasionally run bonuses (for example 15 to 30 percent extra Avios), which lifts the value of every point.

Watch expiry on both sides. RevPoints last 3 years from when they are earned; Avios stay alive as long as your airline account has some activity from time to time.

FAQ

Is it better to keep RevPoints or convert to Avios?

Keep RevPoints until you have a flight to book, then convert. RevPoints are more flexible because they can also become gift cards, while Avios are only useful for airline redemptions.

What is the RevPoints to Avios transfer ratio?

Up to 1:1, so 1,000 RevPoints become up to 1,000 Avios. Watch for occasional transfer bonuses that add extra Avios on top.

Which airlines use Avios?

The British Airways Club, Iberia (Club Iberia Plus), Aer Lingus AerClub and Qatar Airways Privilege Club all use Avios, and you can often move Avios between them.
